Toowoomba Builder Judged Best in State
2016 HIA-CSR Queensland Region Housing Award - GreenSmart Energy Efficiency Winner
On Friday night at the 44th HIA-CSR Queensland Housing Awards held at the Plaza Ballroom Convention Centre Southbank, a panel of three Judges awarded Geoff Gibson Homes the Queensland GreenSmart Energy Efficiency Home of the Year for their 9 Star Display Home the ‘Satori’ which was opened earlier this year in Hume Street, Toowoomba.
Mr Gibson said he was honoured to win such a prestigious award and was proud to be able to bring an award like this home to Toowoomba. There are very few homes anywhere that can boast a 9 star energy rating, as well as being GreenSmart accredited, with built-in adaptability features incorporated in the design. Being a design and construct builder gives us the opportunity to work closely with our clients to give them the most comfortable, cost efficient home we can, without compromising on materials and quality of workmanship. Winning would not have been possible without the support of my staff, our suppliers and our tradesmen.
Towards a sustainable future
Geoff has been in the building industry for 30 years and has spent the last 8 years researching GreenSmart and Energy Efficiency. So it was a great reward to have this display home recognised for his effort in these areas of his expertise. “We are always looking to learn new ways to improve our homes and keep moving towards a sustainable future” said Mr Gibson.
This win automatically qualifies ‘The Satori’ to compete in the HIA GreenSmart National Finals in 2017. This is Geoff Gibson Homes’ second GreenSmart and Energy Efficiency Display Home, their last being the 8 Star ‘Phoenix’, also a National Finalist in 2011 HIA GreenSmart Awards.
Geoff’s sales manager Rick Tyrer said working out of ‘the Satori’ makes his job so much easier, with such an excellent display home to use as a yard stick. I have the ability to show and explain to people things we have included in ‘The Satori’, letting them actually experience the benefits they will achieve in their own new home.
A great learning platform
‘The Satori’ is also a great learning platform, in the last month alone, we have had about 100 students from The Glennie School, St. Ursula’s and St. Mary’s College, go through our display home as part of their Sustainability Studies.
Mr Gibson said: “We look forward to continuing to keep Toowoomba at the leading edge of the home building industry in Queensland.”
